Become an Official Visitor
If improving the care and treatment in our mental health facilities and prisons is something you believe is important, why not express an interest in becoming an Official Visitor?
Expressions of interest from those members of the community with appropriate lived experience, skills and behaviours are welcome at any time for possible appointment as a Mental Health or Prison Official Visitor.
People with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are welcome and encouraged to express interest. Appointments to the role of Official Visitor are made based on the needs of the relevant programs, and by approval of the Ombudsman or the appropriate Minister.
Conditions of appointment and remuneration are available from the Manager - Official Visitors on request.
